Biography[]
Fulfilling his promise to Prometheus[]
Many years ago, when Charon was still alive, he was lovers with Prometheus. After having sex, Prometheus kills Charon in bed, but not before making him promise to help someone he'd meet in the future with a mark. Fast-forward to present day in the Underworld, Charon offers Orpheus and Anatole a ride across the River Styx. Charon suddenly stops the boat and reveals that he can only take one of them across, meaning they must fight to the death. Orpheus is overpowered by Anatole, who nearly kills him until Charon intervenes, having seen the mark of Orpheus' hand, which was created by Fate stabbing him. Charon realizes this is the man Prometheus made him promise to protect and throws Anatole overboard. Charon and Orpheus arrive on shore, where a message written in the sand from Prometheus awaits Charon. It reads: "Thank You, P."[1]
Charon escorts Orpheus to a field, where he must undergo his final test alone in the wilderness. Charon then returns to the Asphodel, where Medusa reveals to him that the man with the mark has arrived, which he is aware of, meaning Prometheus was telling the truth.[2]
