Episode 7 is the seventh episode of the first season of the Netflix original mythological dark-comedy KAOS. It was released on August 29, 2024.
Synopsis[]
On Olympus, Zeus hosts a barbecue for the gods to watch a prophecy being defied. Down in the Underworld, Riddy prepares for her own to be fulfilled.
Plot[]
Myrina exits her trailer to see Riddy's mother standing with a handwritten sign that says "Today's the day." Without so much as a word uttered between the two, Myrina makes her way towards the mountains, where she's dug her own grave. Inside also sits her coin and a handgun. Myrina lays down, places the coin in her mouth, and pulls the trigger, killing herself.
After having a heart-to-heart with Dionysus, to whom he revealed that he loves Hera, Poseidon goes to Olympus, where they've all been summoned by Zeus. There, he tries to convince Hera to run away with him, but she refuses to run.
Orpheus tries to apologize to Riddy for taking her coin and preventing her from Renewing, but he did so in the name of love, and now he's come to bring her back to life so they can start again, but Riddy doesn't wish to return with him, even as he explains that the Gods are on their sides via Dionysus. Before escorting Orpheus to see Hades, Medusa reveals to Riddy that they've been waiting for her. The rebels, like herself, see the agods for what they are, and they believe Riddy may be the key to stopping them, given her and Caeneus' shared prophecy.
Daedalus explains to Ari exactly how Glaucus became the Minotaur. He was in the dark all day with nothing to do. They weren't allowed to use his name or talk to him, and eventually, he started biting when guards went to feed him. He'd become more of a beast than a boy, but with Daedalus he was softer. Glaucus attacked a couple of jailers. One of them lost an ear. The other one, a finger. And then one day, he killed a man. Minos was impressed because he saw Glaucus as weak when he was born; he was born first, and he was born blue. This lead Minos to come up with the idea to turn him into a weapon, for which Daedalus made his mask and horns.
While Caeneus tries to convince Riddy to leave with Orpheus, Medusa takes Orpheus to see Hades, who congratulates him on successfully making his way through the Underworld. That said, neither Orpheus nor Riddy can return to the land of the living, much to Persephone and Medusa's disappointment. Orpheus pleads with Hades but he doesn't budge.
Persephone expresses her disapproval with Hades decision. Sending a dead person back from the Underworld was their chance to make a statement of intent, one that Zeus could not ignore. Hades argues that some things have to remain sacred and that they don't bring the dead back to life. Moving on to finding a solution to their actual problem regarding the Frame and the Nothing. Hades believes they can find a way to restore and renew some of the souls.
While Hades rests, Persephone goes behind his back to send Riddy and Orpheus back to earth.
Zeus reveals that he's called them all there to watch as Minos kills his son and confounds his prophecy.
Meanwhile, Daedalus escorts Ari into the dungeon to see Glaucus for the first time since they were babies. However, unbeknownst to them, Minos has released Glaucus from his cell with intentions on killing him with the knife gifted to him by Hera. Daedalus attempts to guide Ari back to safety but he is attacked and killed by Glaucus before they can make it back to the surface. Ari runs, but eventually finds herself cornered by Glaucus, who can sense that Ari is his sister and chooses not to hurt her. She takes his mask off, at which point, Minos arrives and charges at Glaucus, who momentarily has the upper hand until Minos manages to grab his knife and kill Glaucus, stabbing him in his upper body before slitting his throat. Minos explains that he had to defy his prophecy to protect their family, but it's then that Ari realizes that her father got the prophecy wrong. The first child to draw breath is said to kill him dead. While Glaucus was born first, he was blue, and it was Ari who came out screaming. She then proceeds to kill her father with the same blade he just used to kill her brother. Zeus is in shock. Thunder rumbles and he collapses.
