Episode 8 is the eighth and final episode of the first season of the Netflix original mythological dark-comedy KAOS. It was released on August 29, 2024.
Synopsis[]
Hera calls a family meeting to protect Zeus from himself. But after a climactic meeting with the Fates, Kaos might be coming for the king of the gods.
Plot[]
Zeus awakens in bed to find Hera watching over him. He quickly comes to the realization that Minos is dead and that his prophecy was fulfilled, meaning Zeus has to stop his own prophecy before it's too late.
Hades tells Medusa about his plan to restore the Underworld, but he needs her to help Persephone in his absence.
Zeus goes to the Cave in search of the Fates, where he intends to kill them in order to derail his prophecy. They explain that for someone's prophecy to come to pass, they must bring it into being. If they decide it doesn't exist, then it doesn't exist. But Zeus insists that his does, to which they reply that only the possibility for it exists. Nevertheless, Zeus seeks to kill them.
Hera, Dionysus, and Persephone gather to discuss how they're going to deal with Zeus. As they wait for Hades, Persephone questions why Hera pushed the narrative to mortals that she's in the Underworld against her will and that she doesn't love Hades.
The Fates are not only accepting of their fate, they help Zeus kill them by dousing themselves in fuel as Zeus grabs a match and sets them ablaze. As they go up in flames, Zeus notices Lacy wearing his watch and asks why she got it from. Lacy returns the watch and reveals that she got it from Dionysus.
Caeneus asks Medusa how long she's known about the Nothing and says that they should alert the public, but Medusa instructs him against doing so, explaining that he doesn't understand the big picture and that Riddy was the important one. She offers to send him back to his dog at the docks but he refuses. And so she advises him to keep his head down and not interfere.
On their way back to earth, Riddy reveals that she doesn't just like Caeneus, but that she loves him. Additionally, she tells Orpheus that the day she died, she went to see her mom to say goodbye because she was leaving him and Krete. Whatever they had wasn't love anymore, and she didn't know how to tell him. That said, they both have a chance to start again on Earth, and so they continue on their journey.
Hades enters the Nothing and attempts to manually restore Nax's soul but is unsuccessful in doing so.
Caeneus rushes to the Frame to try and prevent anyone else from crossing over. There, he is reunited with his mother. Caeneus accuses Myrina of betraying him but she insists that she only led the Amazons to him in order to fulfill his prophecy. She's waited ten years, and now she's come to take him through the Frame, but Caeneus reveals the Gods lied to them and that no one goes back to Earth. She bypasses him towards the Frame despite his warning. Caeneus chases after her and begins to submerge in the water, despite not dying with his coin. He reaches his mom just in time for the two of them to get pulled through the Frame.
Zeus returns home to find the family awaiting his return. Hera says that they're all worried about him as he's going to destroy everything they've created. Zeus enters with four bottles of meander water. Hera and Poseidon both get full bottles, whilst Dionysus is only half full and Persephone receives none. Moving forward, their meander consumption will be rationed. He also announces that he's destroyed the Fates and therefore all prophecies. Regarding Dionysus half full bottle of water, Zeus reveals that he knows his son gave Lachy his watch. Dionysus explains that he gave his watch to the Fates so that a mortal could get his wife back from the dead. Zeus asks Persephone about Orpheus, who she claims is dead. As punishment for Dionysus' insubordination, Zeus kills his pet kitten, Dennis. Zeus then proceeds to set fire to Hera's bees, stating that she will no longer keep the mother of his children slaves. Having grown tired of his games, Poseidon confesses that he loves Hera and asks her to come with him, but she laughs at him. That said, Zeus pours out Poseidon's water and tells him to take a break from his position and only come back when he's calmed down. Zeus will now be taking charge of not only Krete, but the Underworld and everywhere else.
Zeus pays Prometheus a visit to discuss his recent actions, but just as Prometheus explains that he never betrayed Zeus, he disappears.
Ari drags Glaucus' body up into the palace, where she calls out to her mother and reveals that her father lied about his death and turned him into a Minotaur for the Gods. Ari tried to save him but she failed. Pas is in shock, crying as she approaches Glaucus' body, at which point Ari reveals that she killed Minos, for which Pas is pleased with her.
Riddy and Orpheus manage to return to earth without incident. To Orpheus' surprise, the Cave is gone, but his car remains. He offers Riddy a ride back into town, but she'd rather walk, believing it would be better if they part ways. Orpheus apologizes for keeping her coin, but she thanks him for getting her life back and hugs him goodbye.
70 miles out from Heraklion, Riddy crosses paths with Cassandra on the road. She reveals that she is a prophet, as is Riddy now. She instructs Riddy to find Ari and set the living free, whilst Caeneus does the same with the dead. Remarkably, down in the Nothing, Caeneus soul seems to restore on its own. He awakens next to his mother, who remains a shell of her former self until she suddenly restores as well, simply saying "Kaos."
Prometheus finds himself in Olympus, where the Fates await. They explain that Fate can't be destroyed and that all he needed to do was have faith in the plan. Prometheus has now been granted his freedom and take his seat upon the throne. Before long, Zeus tracks him down to the throne room. Zeus attempts to send him away but not only does he fail to do so, he notices a cut on his hand despite the fact that Gods don't bleed, meaning he is no longer a God.
Hera calls someone from a pay phone, instructing them to gather the troops and make up the spare bed before leaving with her tacitas in tow.
Hades questions how is it Caeneus can renew human souls.
Prometheus warns Zeus that kaos is coming.
Ari meets with Andromache to discuss rebuilding Troy and destroying Olympus.
