Persephone is the queen of the Underworld and wife of Hades who has spent her life dispelling rumors propagated through millennia of classical, Renaissance and modern art that she was made to be his child bride.

Biography[]

Running the Underworld[]

Persephone and Hades are instructed by Zeus to employ more divers, however, Persephone informs Zeus that all Underworld workers who apply to be divers have to be found appropriate, accepted and trained. It is a skill and delicate process of taking the human souls through the Frame, but Zeus simply instructs them to find more divers.[1]

Persephone and Hades discuss how exactly a soul managed to escape. Admittedly, Hades is at fault for having sat back and allowing things to simply happen. Rather than go to Zeus as Persephone would prefer, Hades insists on handling it himself.[2]

Persephone has convinced Hades to tell Zeus the truth, as everything could break and fall apart. The Nothing was never meant to take that many souls, which is why the Frame glitched. They reveal that the Frame is overwhelmed with souls and becoming unstable. Zeus refuses to accept responsibility for his actions and accuses Hades of attempting to destroy him. Enraged, he shocks Hades with lightning, nearly killing him.[3]

Sending Orpheus and Riddy back to earth[]

Persephone expresses her disapproval with Hades decision after he decides against allowing Riddy and Orpheus back to earth. Sending a dead person back from the Underworld was their chance to make a statement of intent, one that Zeus could not ignore. Hades argues that some things have to remain sacred and that they don't bring the dead back to life. Moving on to finding a solution to their actual problem regarding the Frame and the Nothing. Hades believes they can find a way to restore and renew some of the souls. While Hades rests, Persephone goes behind his back to send Riddy and Orpheus back to earth.[4]

Persephone gathers with the others to discuss how they're going to deal with Zeus. As they wait for Hades, Persephone questions why Hera pushed the narrative to mortals that she's in the Underworld against her will and that she doesn't love Hades.[5]
